NORTH WHALE ISLAND
Film by Trond Ansten & Clemens Wilhelm

Two people spend three weeks in total isolation on a remote Arctic island, bringing no food and living only on what they can fish from the sea or forage from the tundra. Without dialogue, the film attends to a state of being in nature, observing the accumulation of labor as the weather shifts and time thickens. What emerges is a contemplative study of survival, presence, and absence—life pared down to its essentials, at the edge of subsistence on a dramatic and dreamy island.
